About
After studying as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I finished my MPhil at the University of Cambridge last year, where my thesis, "The Role of Music in the Adoption and Development of the Lutheran Reformation in Livonia," focused on the nature of the liturgical and musical changes to the order of worship and hymnal in the early Lutheran church in Livonia (today modern Latvia and Estonia).
Although most of my work to date has centered around sixteenth century Livonia, I am interested in the early modern period in general, particularly with regards to how music printing and other new technologies affected the spread of music, art, and ideas on the outskirts of Europe. Other research interests of mine focus on musical development in the Baltic region in the twentieth century and choral music in the United States and its place as a subculture within the realm of popular classical music.
