About
I am a doctoral candidate in the Joint Program in English and Education at the University of Michigan. I received my M.A. in TESOL from Teachers College Columbia University, where I focused on discourse analysis and second language writing. I then taught English language and writing courses at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. My work at Michigan focuses on helping students and instructors in higher education contexts to analyze language in the texts they read and write in detailed and systematic ways, with the goal of enabling student writers to become more reflective and knowledgeable about language in discourse. In my dissertation research, I am analyzing authorial stance and reader positioning in upper-level student writing in the disciplines.
